Checkside was founded in 2004 and acquired Porter Consulting in 2009. Along the way we have conducted research, asked a lot of questions, challenged the way people think, explored different ways of doing things and developed a connected service offering that is all about delivering real value to our clients.
Our team shares a common bond in our willingness to act as trusted
advisers to our clients. We enjoy what we do, but also take our
responsibility seriously.
Chris Bates

Prior to founding Checkside, Chris worked with an international business consulting group, which was preceded by a highly successful career in the financial services industry.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from Curtin University of Technology, is a graduate and alumni member of the AICD (GAICD status), is a member of The Executive Connection (TEC 45) and has completed various studies with the ASX and FINSIA (now Kaplan).
An ex-footballer and basketballer, Chris now runs the dog to stay fit and is a member of Royal Perth Golf Club.
Scott O’Hehir

Scott joined Checkside in July 2005 and became a Director in August 2007.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from The University of Western Australia as well as postgraduate qualifications in Applied Finance from Kaplan.
Prior to joining Checkside, Scott worked as an industrial relations practitioner with a private employer focussed advisory firm.
A keen surfer and runner, Scott also plays touch rugby on a regular basis.
Kristy Campbell

Since 2007, Kristy has been recruiting professional and executive staff for National and WA businesses, including legal firms, SME's and small-cap listed entities. This was preceded by a career in the legal industry where she gained in-house experience in people management and recruitment processes.
Kristy works closely with both clients and candidates and has a reputation for developing a deep understanding of their needs and working hard to get the right outcomes, resulting in recurring work from clients and ongoing referrals from candidates.
Outside of work Kristy spends most of her time at the beach or the gym - and can occasionally be talked into a good red wine!
Tamara Hoysted

Tamara (Tammy) is a qualified pharmacist (Bachelor of Pharmacy, Curtin University of Technology) who has managed businesses and also run her own successful pharmacy – gaining vast experience in recruiting and managing staff.
Tammy was approached to join Checkside because of her intellect and commercial acumen, which clients experience as they interact with her.
In her spare time, Tammy keeps fit playing netball and running around with her son and daughter.
Bernice Henderson

Bernice joined Porter Consulting in January 2005, having previously worked for more than 11 years in legal support positions at boutique and top tier law firms both in Australia and London.
Bernice successfully completed her Professional Diploma in Human Resources through Deakin University in 2009 and undertakes continuous professional development by attending regular seminars, courses and forums.
Outside of work, Bernice enjoys spending quality time with her family in the south-west town of Busselton and pursuing her passion in photography.
Karin Higgins

Karin has more than ten years senior administration experience, predominantly in a corporate finance and investment banking environment. Karin works part-time at Checkside, providing support to the Directors.
Outside of work Karin is an enthusiastic gardener, jogs regularly and spends much of her spare time trying to rehabilitate Holly, the wayward kelpie.
Jevita Nilson

Jevita holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from the University of Western Australia and, in 2010, completed a Graduate Diploma of Business (Human Resource Management).
Prior to joining Checkside, Jevita worked with a boutique accounting practice for 3 years as their PA and Office Manager.
Outside of work Jevita is a keen photographer and enjoys camping and spending time at the beach with her husband and their pet Labrador.
